We are excited to invite you all to race at the 2024 Sydney Harbour Challenge Weekend on the 1 – 3 March 2024. This year we are thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Challenge 22kms race from Rose Bay on the iconic Sydney Harbour through Sydney Heads to race along the cliff coastline towards Bondi and return.
Come and join us for a weekend filled with racing and celebrating 10 years of racing on the world-famous Sydney Harbour. This year everyone has an opportunity to race on Sydney Harbour starting on the Friday with the Sydney Harbour Mini Challenge 12KMS. This is designed for teams new to ocean racing and they have an opportunity to compete with an experienced steerer to negotiate the bustling harbour amongst ferries, Catalina planes, sailing and powered vessels on a 12KM course. Some experienced paddlers may choose to do this race on an OC1 or OC2. Presentations will be straight after racing onsite.
Saturday is the day for experienced ocean teams to race the 10th Sydney Harbour Challenge 22kms and with Bondi Outrigger hosting at the Woollahra Sailing, here is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the celebrations racing and congratulating our 2024 Champions and paddlers that have raced in all 10 events. If this is your 10th year racing this premier event, we would like to hear from you by email to: aocra.events@aocra.com.au.
Bondi Outriggers will facilitate introductions for international teams sourcing an OC6 canoe to race. Thanks to clubs making their OC6 canoes available to international teams so they can participate which makes racing even more exciting. This weekend would not be complete without the OZONE Australia Downwinder to be held between Kurnell and Cronulla offering a 20kms course. Our sponsors OZONE Australia and Paddling Promotions are well known in our sport and 100% behind our 2023 Downwind Series as well as 2023 IVF World Distance campaign last year. With OZONE Race 3 postponed to 2024, this Downwinder will wrap up the 2023 Downwind Series and so all those that have competed in Race 1 & 2 and are eligible will have another chance to be in to win at the Series Presentations. The team from Paddling Promotions and Ozone Australia will be there showcasing their canoes and racing skills as they join us to give away an OC1 and OC2 to eligible competitors. We thank them for their ongoing support for ocean racing in Australia.
